This was yet another of those lunch walks in Lund, and the place of this capture is right beside Café Ariman, a place I used to go to many, many years ago. Nowadays, I wouldn’t feel comfortable being there, I wouldn’t fit in at all. Everybody there are very artsy and have individual clothing styles and hair cuts. Without having a clue what they are speaking about nowadays, I would guess on art, poetry, politics and relations, the same as when I used to go there. I don’t feel I have changed a lot since then, but nevertheless I would hesitate before walking in there again.
Back on track, this is not about Café Ariman or me, this is about those two pigeons in the picture. A picture I personally think I did very well regarding the tonality. There is an even spread of tones between the black and white, and the overall warm tone suits the subject. These pigeons, aren’t they known for living as couples. This couple decided to make a nest in between two hoses in this rather busy alley. As I said, there is a café right beside, on the right hand. This nest is located slightly above eye level, so I guess they must have enjoyed all the people passing by. I detail that I like is that one of the posters are for the Love Club, Kärleksklubben. I was thinking about this with the pigeons staying together for a lifetime, and I like to think this is because they really are found of each other, call it love.

The posters are folded like an arrow pointing to the two love-birds. While the photo contains complexity, energy and tension at the bottom of the image, it proceeds up to the simplicity of the two birds. That’s the core message. Very symbolic–I like it!
I agree with Earl, the posters couldn’t have been placed any better, it makes it.
Thanks, both! I quite agree on this with the folded poster, it is easy to see it as a enhanced symbol. I didn’t intended this, but thought the posters were like a pedestal for the birds, an urban such. Images are what viewers see in them, not only what I see.
The composition of this just knocks me out. The birds just fill me with delight. And, yes, the tones are lovely.
Thank you, Chris! It’s not a everyday composition, following all types of rules and so, but I liked it this way and I’m glad you like it too.
