That’s an awful lot of money. Where is this heading? I’m speaking about the new Leica M9. The good thing with this is that $5k suddenly look like a bargain, and this is what an M8.2 weights in at. Who knows, prices might drop too… (Btw, If you read this, Karin, I’m speaking about a new heating system for our new house
)
- Welcome to my blog about this and that – ditt & datt in Swedish. The topics you'll find here are not always that general, though. You wont find anything on football, for instance. Moreover, all the light will most often be on photographs I made. In fact, if I tell something I find worthwhile telling, I usually stick a few of my photographs to the story. You could almost say this is about photography, and in a way you're right, it is. But it is also about what I see.

Ove, we don’t need a new heating system – they just installed a new one, remember?
*hmpf*
I always list it under Vet Bills.
I always end up in the ‘dog house’ over that also.
But Nikon and Canon have cameras that cost that much and more and no one ever says that their line of lenses is better than Leica’s. What I mean here is that I find it very interesting that so many people I’ve read are commenting about the price of the new Leica but you hear very few comments when Canon releases a new 1Ds Mk III or Nikon releases a D3x. I wonder if the idea of a rangefinder makes it more like a ‘casual’ camera in people’s eyes, as opposed to a professional tool.
You’re right, Chris. Their top of the line products are equally priced, sky high. But with SLRs, there are at least midrange, semi-professional products as alternatives. I guess the M8 will serve that purpose for a short while, considering it’s not manufactured anymore.
Vet bills, not strange you ended up in the dog house…
Well, the new M9 heating system is supposed to make much less noise
Not to mention the overall increase in efficiency, more throughput without losses.
