Today, I got my latest baby, a new lens. It’s a Lensbaby Composer and I got it as a birthday present. Not that I have my day today, but a late one. It seemed to have been hard to get one with 4/3 mount, at least in Sweden, so this one came in from the UK.
Anyway, I’m in heaven now. It’s such a lovely lens. Check out the following picture, one of the first trial shots I made with it:

It’s only sharp where I wanted it to be, at the sadle. The rest blurs out beautifully. I will use this lens for my sofobomo project, which is called Lifecycles. See, I’m already practising, shooting bicycles. Best present ever! Thanks, Karin!
You’ve made excellent use of the lensbaby there – it doesn’t have that crazy warp speed effect that i seemed to get every time I used it. Did you use the f5.6 aperture?
Thanks, Julie! I used the aperture plate that were plugged in at delivery, f4. Haven’t investigated how to change that, but I can see what you mean. If the picture gets this blurred at f4, what would it look like at f2…?
I looked forward to seeing your project. I’ve written many times about the Lensbaby, though I was using LB 2.0. I’m not a fan because of the aptly named “warp speed” effect (Good one, Julie!). I’ve not found a suitable use for it. I loaned it to a friend to see if he liked it.
This photo is very nice and doesn’t have that telltale LB effect.
Yeah, at first I obviously didn’t fully understand what Julie meant, but a few days later I know exactly. It’s hard to not get warped pictures. Furthermore, the Lensbaby seems to have been made to work with full frame cameras, making it very easy to move the sweet spot out of the frame of my 4/3-sized frame…. Difficult lens.
